I noticed that Pialligo ave closed this morning West of Sutton Road due to a head on accident. Similar thing last week.
What is causing this? Drugs, alcohol, or Kangaroos?
If people are swerving to avoid roos then they are probably doing the wrong thing.
Better to brake and keep control of the vehicle than swerve and hit a stationary object like a tree or a moving object like another vehicle.

don’t tell granny, might also end up on the offal thread…
ha ha ha smashing a Datto. love your form, i forgot about that one
All this focus on speed compliance has got people fooled into a false sense of security. Driving skills DO actually count for something.
Cranky – the way cars look after accidents is because of the engineering that goes into them. Previously there was a small dent in the front fender and squishy mess on the inside but all in all the car was ok. Now you have a small crash and the car is a total wreck but the people are ok.
Mind you if you don’t wear a seatbelt consider yourself f%$ked. I learnt that one really early on in my driving days by crashing a Datto 120Y into a gum tree -hell of a bruise and sore chest although I’m still posting.
Having seen TV news photos of the destruction wrought in this accident, we should be pleased that such high engineering standards are now incorporated in motor vehicles.
The amount of damage shown would previously have indicated a multiple fatality. Best wishes to all involved.
Fellow cabbie picked up 4 surgeons who came to Canberra this morning on a private jet for the purpose of organ retrieval, as a result of this accident.

Actually yes that’s more accurate… but without cars there’s no drivers 😉
I think it’s more ‘while drivers exist there will be accidents’.
*grin*
You only get sent to the Offal Thread for vile puns (mainly).
So you are GORN, Loquaciousness. Out!

No! Not the offal! Anything but the offal! I promise I’ll be offaly good from now on …
It’s caused by 2 cars colliding.
Whilst cars exist, there will be accidents.
Unless they only have one. *chuckle*

Nice pick-up. (Or maybe it was a crew cab.) Keep that up, L, and ant and Granny will banish you to the offal thread too.

Well, they should be using both eyes …

The intersection where it happened is a shocker in the mornings. It’s where sutton rd spills out onto Pialligo, with massive numbers of traffic coming from Qbn going to Canberra, and significant numbers coming from Canberra to Qbn.
There’s a ton of cars and trucks waiting to get off Sutton Rd onto Pialligo, and it is really dangerous. Most of them are turning across the road, to head to Canberra. And most of the traffic going both ways is trying to do 100.
So they’re waiting for a break that seldom comes, and then jumping out. I used to be driving from the Qbn end, wondering what each one was going to do, wait in the middle of the road and ease in, or just push in?
There’s been a few nasty smashes there, this was yet another one. You only heard about it because they closed the road. Usually there’s just a monster bank-up while they push the mess off the road.
Isn’t Pialligo Ave the road in from Queanbeyan?? Say no more 😉
Stupidity plain and simple. People don’t know how to drive. Do the log book, pay the instructor and get the licence… the ACT has the country’s weakest driver licensing laws.
People not indicating? Whoops, let’s not open Pandora’s floodgates on that one again.
Bright sun in one of the drivers eyes?
