Multiple calls to triple zero as backyard fire seen moving toward home in Oxley

Nearby residents made multiple calls to the Emergency Triple Zero number this morning (January 2) as they saw a backyard fire moving toward a house in Haugh Place, Oxley.

Firefighters responded to the calls which came in around 10 am but the house was already alight.

ACT Fire & Rescue sent three pumpers, the breathing apparatus van and two commanders to the home and extinguished the fire by around 1 pm.

ACT Ambulance Service paramedics were also on the scene but no injuries were reported.

The scene has been handed over to ACT Policing who are investigating the incident.
