Witnesses are urged to come forward after a road rage version of ‘dodgem cars’ incident occurred in Belconnen on Tuesday (2 May).
Police received a report that a white Toyota Van and a white Holden Rodeo Ute were driving at speed and colliding with each other travelling in the area of Owen Dixen Drive and William Webb Drive at about 1.05 pm. They continued travelling along Copland Drive, Ginninderra Drive and through Emu Bank.
The vehicles eventually came to a stop on the median strip outside the Belconnen Police Station on Benjamin Way at about 1.20 pm.
Both drivers involved in the incident have been spoken to. Police are now urging anyone who witnessed the incident or who has CCTV or dash cam footage of the area around the time, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
“Taking your aggression out on the road is extremely dangerous behaviour. Not only does it put you at risk but it causes considerable risk to all road users”, said Acting Belconnen Station Sergeant Peta Lankester.
“If you are involved in a confrontational situation on the road, do not engage. Note the registration and details of the vehicle and driver and report it to police” Sergeant Lankester said.
“If you are genuinely concerned for your safety or if the situation becomes life threatening, call Triple Zero (000). If you witness a confrontational situation occurring, contact police on 131 444.”
