Meet our lovable pets of the week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

TJ and Maude Elvis are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These lovely animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below!

Dog of the Week: TJ

Here’s a classic, handsome, loyal and energetic Aussie cattle dog, more Aussie than arguing over the TV remote on Boxing Day between the yacht racing and the cricket. More Aussie than getting upset about Summernats but then going along to see all the sweet rides. TJ is Aussie as!

All the jokes aside, he’s a wonderful boy and he’s only just turned one! He‘s got the energy levels you’d expect from a cattle dog, but don’t get me wrong, he can still be a great companion without going on half-yearly musters through the scrub. A good jog around the block or some off-leash time in a park and he’ll be right as rain.

TJ isn’t a fan of small animals, but if you already own a medium/larger-sized dog, there’s a good chance they’ll be good mates. But it’s worth checking before you adopt.

If you’ve owned a cattle dog or always wanted to, here’s a friendly little bloke who’d love to go home with you.

Maude Elvis the Ferret

Yep, a cute little ferret. Maude Elvis, what a pet! This little noodle is used to people and loves exploring new nooks and crannies and is a great companion for those who prefer smaller animals.

Maude Elvis is lots of fun and has lots of energy, so he’ll need a playmate – a human one, though, as he’s never lived with another ferret.

This little guy will give you nibble now and then too; don’t worry, he’s not dangerous, these are fun nibbles, he won’t hurt you. It’s his play style, but he’s gentle with it.

Previous owners of ferrets will love this little guy, and of course, you’ll need a suitable indoor enclosure, but if you have an outdoor one, in time, he might adjust. Come and talk to us about him, he’s great!

Pawnotes: Thanks for your support all year, Canberrans! Remember, at this time of year when families are together, it’s the perfect time to have a measured conversation about pet adoptions.

Visit RSPCA ACT today at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life. You won’t regret it!
