Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!
Bazza and Jeckle are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.
Dog of the Week – Bazza
Big, beautiful, boof-head Bazza is an absolute delight who would be the life of any party. One of his favourite things is meeting new people. You can tell because of the way his tail appears to take on a life of its own. His whole face softens every time he sees someone he’s yet to give a sniff, a sloppy kiss or a big cuddle.
Baz’s excitement can mean that he forgets his manners and tends to jump on people. He’s been improving every day, though, and he just needs to receive positive rewards when he’s putting all four of his paws on the floor.
His new owner should look forward to building a bond with Baz as his kelpie roots will help him be responsive to stimulating rewards-based training. Bazza is a big fan of snacks, so if you’ve got a bit of chicken or treats with you while he learns, you’ll be sure to have a straight-A student!
Bazza fancies himself as a bit of a ladies man. We think he’d be good with a female companion, but he’ll need some work on his approach … Any introductions should be done slowly and supervised so that the two can become used to each other.
Bazza would be good with kids aged over 10 years, but please remember that all interactions between children and dogs should be actively monitored.
Bazza has been a bit down on his luck recently, so if you think you could be this loveable boy’s lucky charm, come and meet him!
Rabbit of the Week – Jeckle
Jeckle is a gorgeous ash-grey bunny who is very keen to explore the world! He is a curious little guy who’s more than keen to inspect all the interesting things around him with his little nose. Jeckle’s new family will need to provide plenty of enriching exploration games to keep his inquisitive mind occupied.
Jeckle is a confident rabbit but is still a bit unsure about being handled yet. Despite them being very soft and cuddly, most rabbits are quite nervous about being held at first. We think, though, that given his early sureness around people, he’ll warm up with some time and patience.
Jeckle has shown that he’s friendly enough to live with other desexed rabbits of a similar size. Please note that Jeckle is not desexed yet but will be adopted with a voucher to return to the shelter for this procedure later. They’ll need some slow introductions to become comfortable and familiar with each other, as well as plenty of room in their enclosure to run around and play!
Jeckle is a fun and rambunctious rabbit and he’ll make an excellent addition to the family!
Visit the RSPCA at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it!
