Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Blue and Puck are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.

Dog of the Week – Blue

Sweet Blue is a gorgeous girl who had an unfortunate accident early on in her life. Being a ‘tri-pawed’ pooch has definitely not slowed this darling girl down though!

Blue is looking for a loving forever home. She loves time indoors as well as daily exercise in the form of short daily strolls.

Blue gets on well with other dogs and could be open to meeting another friendly male dog in her new home! Blue walks well on her lead and absolutely loves treats. This sweet dog is very clever and knows how to sit and drop.

Blue is still learning how to play fetch but is very interested in playing with tennis balls. With time, patience and love this clever girl will be a fetch champion!

Puck the pigeon

Puck is ready to leave the nest and find a new family to call his own.

Pigeon of the Week – Puck

Meet the handsome and mysterious Puck! Our pigeons are the masters of what we like to call ‘leisure art’. You’ll find that they are extremely talented at the simple things in life and are masters in napping, laying in the sun and bathing.

Puck is great friends with all the other pigeons in our care, they are very flirtatious birds, cooing gently to each other and they love a good snuggle. They’re hopeless romantics!

Domesticated doves and pigeons like human contact. They are quiet and peaceful, and make wonderful pets.

Pet Pigeons and all types of doves have a subtle appeal due to their special characteristics. Most have a pleasant voice. It is generally a ‘cooing’ sound and most have about four or five types of calls. The strut of these adorable birds is accompanied with head nodding.

A dove and pigeon diet consisting of a basic commercial mix supplemented with greens rich in minerals is generally regarded as suitable. Greens can include such things as lettuce, endive, chickweed, clover, watercress and spinach. Some fruits are berries, apple, and pear. For smaller doves and pigeons you can use a budgie or canary mix. The smaller birds will also enjoy millet spray.

Visit the RSPCA at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it!
