Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Minou and Mazda are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.

Cat of the Week – Minou

Meet Minou (pronounced min-new), a beautiful Persian cat. Minou is French for kitty as we thought this fancy cat deserved a fancy name. Persian cats were first documented as being imported from Persia to Italy in 1620. Characterised by their short snout and long coat, Persians are some of the fluffiest of cats.

Minou is quite a particular cat. She has been passed around a few homes, through no fault of her own, and has found herself in the shelter still searching for a minnew family. She is quite a friendly cat with the right person, but for this reason, she has quite a particular home that’s she’s wanting.

Minou lived with children once before and did not enjoy it as their high energy wasn’t the right fit for this lady of leisure. She has also expressed a fairly strong distaste for other animals, so would be best suited to being an only pet.

Minou needs a quiet household with one or two other adults who will shower her with attention and that she can repay with love. Her fur is her crowning glory, so her owners will need to brush it at least two or three times a week. This is a great opportunity to bond with your pet and most cats learn to love the experience! This type of breed’s eyes also need regular cleaning to remain gunk-free.

If you’re looking for a pet to build a close personal bond with, and be a friend for life, Minou is the purr-fect cat.

Mazda

Mazda is hoping to find a new family.

Dog of the Week – Mazda

Mazda is a delightful dog who, in her time here, has become a firm staff and volunteer favourite. She is a lovely playful dog who adores the company of people and gets on well with some other dogs. Mazda can meet other dogs for a sniff and has demonstrated that she can go for a stroll with them too. However, she can, at times, be a little selective, so we think she’d be best suited to being the only dog in her new home.

Mazda must’ve been a Wimbledon champion in a previous life because she loves a tennis ball and can go for hours playing her favourite game. Her favourite game is one she made up though, so the shelter staff will have to explain the rules to you!

We think Mazda would do well in a family with kids 10 years and older as she still has plenty of bounce to play and would benefit from the entertainment.

If you think you’d make a match for Mazda, book an appointment to meet her today. This lovely lady will enrich the lives of any family that’s lucky enough to adopt her.

Visit the RSPCA at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it!
