Run Kerry Run

Yesterday the ABC informed us that the former much beloved Greens MLA Kerry Tucker was taking another tilt at the Senate, despite being soundly thrashed on her last outing.

There was a follow up story with a love in between Kerry and Kate Lundy who thinks its great to have another high profile voice saying mean things about Gary Humphries.

My 2c is that Ms. Tucker is making a mistake by trying to run against Gary Humphries. From what’s been in the media her plan is to try and force him under a quota at which point her superior preference arrangement with the dominant ALP might boost her up over the top of him (and she’ll be hoping that the ALP’s second candidate doesn’t run away from her at that point.

One doubts that many Liberal voters are going to wake up on election day and decide to vote Green.

A better tactic to actually win in my view would be to go for the throat of Kate Lundy and the ALP. There’s a lot of soft votes there who’ve had enough of Labor under Beazley, Kate Lundy has been less assiduous in her electorate work than she used to be, and they’re a lot more amenable to the Greens message IMHO.
