UPDATED: Motorcyclist dies at scene of Monaro Highway accident

Updated 11:00 am, 1 March: A motorcyclist has died at the scene of a collision with a truck and a utility on the Monaro Highway north of Michelago this morning.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash which was attended by firefighters from ACT Fire and Rescue and paramedics from NSW Ambulance.

The driver of the truck has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing, while the male driver of a blue utility driver sustained minor injuries.

The crash occurred before 8:30 am on a section of the highway near Kelly Road, north of Michelago.

The highway is closed in both directions and motorists should avoid the area. It is expected the highway will remain closed for some time as police officers investigate the cause of the collision.

Heavy vehicles are being held on-site, while a diversion is in place for light vehicles are using Kelly Road in both directions under stop/slow conditions.
