The festive season may well be all about the children, but working out what to do with them when you’re shopping is a whole other basket of Christmas crackers. However, if your sprouts are mad about Harry Potter then there’s an intriguing alternative on offer at Fyshwick shop Quizzic Alley.
The Harry Potter-themed enterprise is offering storytelling sessions from December 18 to 24, with readings from the Harry Potter series and more recent works from JK Rowling’s pen. Sessions will run for about an hour, so parents can get their shopping done in peace. Check the Quizzic Alley Facebook page for the full roster of times.
A gold coin donation is required to enter and all takings will be donated to the Cerebral Palsy Alliance (ACT). Staff will also be in attendance to keep an eye on good behaviour and make sure that parents can be found quickly if necessary.
The Harry Potter-themed enterprise is the brainchild of Paralympian Michael Milton and his partner Penni. Milton says the business has been going gangbusters since it opened, attracting both children and adults who are fans of the magical world created by JK Rowling.
Stocked with everything from wands, toys, games, clothing, jewellery and more, the shop’s set up for comfortable browsing with comfortable sofas, books, chess sets and games. They’re serving tankards of Q Brew, a butterscotch and cream-flavored soft drink beloved by witches and wizards everywhere and there’s even a sky-blue Ford Anglia, just like the flying version from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Quizzic Alley is at 5, Pirie St., Fyshwick.
