Canberra is once again being shrouded in smoke this afternoon, as an easterly breeze draws a smoke haze across the region.

An ACT Emergency Services Agency spokesperson said the agency had again been inundated with calls to the triple zero emergency number from concerned Canberra residents.

The spokesperson urged people not to call the 000 hotline unless they see an unattended fire.

“Bushfire information can obtained by phoning Access Canberra on 13 22 81.

“There are no fires in the ACT this afternoon,” the ESA spokesperson said.

For information on fires near you, visit the ESA website or use the NSW RFS Fires Near Me page.

“Remember, you should only call Triple Zero (000) if you see an unattended fire, not just because you can see or smell smoke,” the ESA said.
