Where to nerf out in Canberra?

bug life

Looking for venues for something a bit different.

I’m the convenor for Canberra & Southern NSW Dart Tag.
(FB link).

We are well known both nationally and internationally, at least within our geeky niche.

We run ‘live action games’ based around the use of Nerf guns (Humans vs Zombies, such as the ANU used to run, for example). We regularly use Weston and Haig parks for our games, and we’ve recently run an indoor game at Canberra Indoor Rock Climbing in Mitchell.

Now we need another indoor venue for something very specific. We should be able use it at night, and it should have a bunch of corridors and rooms. We’d be looking at an attendance of 40 people and hire costs would have to be reasonable. We would supply our own insurance waiver as well (if required).

For this specific event, I will leave you with this:

Hudson: Is this gonna be a standup fight, sir, or another bughunt?

Try the Canberra Technology Park in Watson. It’s an old school converted for lots of different commercial purposes:

Any one has any idea about the rate per square meter at http://www.canberratechpark.com/ ?

Thanks for your comments – some good suggestions there.

I’m sure that JB will volunteer the Eagles Nest for your activities….The other tenants of the building will be overjoyed. And you could break JB’s puter(s) in nerfy fun to see if he is a mere hologram generated by some outmoded notion of a matrix. Like a flea in a futon, but more evolved.

I mean all of that in the nicest possible way.

The Albert Hall might be alright if you could afford to hire it. How about the Yarralumla woolshed?

Well, the AFP uses the Albemarle building to run training exercises. Perhaps you could make enquires with the Doma Group, who own them now I think.

NFI how much it would cost you or if they would even let you but it can’t hurt to ask. Pretty sure they are earmarked for demolition so it’ not as if it needs to be kept pristine.

Good luck with your hunt!

ANU would be out, given the history with HvZ.

Sounds like you want a school, aside from an old abandoned mansion. I don’t know, you might be able to get a principle on your side, though I’m sure the legalities of using a public school building at night for dart tag might get a bit muddy.

Which leaves us with the uni’s, I guess, surely there’s someone who’s in the know and might be able to sort out something with the ANU or UC?
