Going out this morning, I have to pass though the mess that is McCulloch St/Cotter Road/Lady Denman drive. We now have single lane working at the lights in McCulloch Street, guided by a road worker doing point duty. But the lights are still on, making things very confusing for some. Coming back, wanting to turn right into Cotter Rd off Lady Denman I have someone coming straight towards me, having misread where he was supposed to turn right into Lady Denman from Cotter Rd and turned into my lane instead. Turning left into McCulloch, I observe someone trying to go onto the new bit of road, even though it is currently blocked off and not in use. Really a place to avoid, if you can.
Why have they taken a functional, two lanes each way set of lights and a roundabout and turned it into a pair of two lanes each way sets of lights? When it’s finished, I mean, certainly not right now! Just to add bike lanes? And given the lack of attention ever paid in this town to synchronising traffic lights, it will not surprise me at all if it ends up being a bigger bottleneck than it ever was before.
