ACT Policing has charged a 33-year-old Holt man and a 25-year-old Phillip woman with several driving offences after their vehicle failed to stop for police last night (26 December).

Police were conducting a mobile patrol at an apartment complex in Reid at about 10:45 pm when the man and woman suddenly fled to their vehicle after seeing police.

Officers followed the vehicle which had been reported stolen from an address in Braddon on Sunday, 20 December.

The vehicle was driven down Limestone Avenue before police successfully deployed stop sticks on Cowper Street, impacting the vehicle’s front left wheel.

The vehicle came to a stop on Northbourne Avenue in Turner before the occupants led police on a short foot chase. They were then apprehended.

The man was on parole at the time of the incident. He was charged with aggravated driving, failing to stop for police, driving a motor vehicle without consent and entering an intersection through a red light.

The woman was charged with riding in a motor vehicle without consent.

The pair are due to appear before the ACT Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (28 December).
