Dog of the Week – Buddy
Looking for a new Buddy? Buddy could be your guy! Buddy has all the makings of a dog sport winner. With oodles of drive and trainability, Buddy is very intelligent and would benefit from an owner who would nurture his natural cleverness.
We think Buddy would be a gun at dog activities like flyball, agility or just playing fetch in the park! Buddy is still quite young at around 9 months, and his age brings with it a lot of enthusiasm. If he gets overstimulated, he can become quite boisterous. With his natural aptitude to training, though, this shouldn’t be a problem just so long as his owner is ready to commit to exercise time with him. With active enrichment, Buddy would make a fantastic companion.
Speaking of companions, Buddy would absolutely love a dog buddy! His playmate would need to match Buddy in energy levels but having a bouncy pal would certainly help Buddy burn off some extra energy.
Buddy would be ideal for a house with teens. Going on long play adventures would be beneficial for dog and teen alike! Buddy would make an energetic and loving member of a new family. If you think you’re missing a friend like Buddy, meet him at the shelter.

Guinea Pig of the Week – Porky
Meet Porky, your new guinea pig pal. This inquisitive little guy has been on a culinary tour in search of Canberra’s finest grass. As his gastronomic adventure came to a close, Porky was surrendered to us by a concerned member of the public who knew the streets of Canberra were no place for a small guinea pig. Porky has decided to retire from life as a lawn critic and find somewhere to settle down.
True to his name, Porky’s previously indulgent days have left with a few extra grams around the waist, so his new home will need to ensure he has a monitored diet and stays away from gaining any extra. The good news is that on carrots and kale, this shouldn’t be too difficult to achieve!
Porky can be quite shy at first, big people tend to scare this little guy, but once he gets comfortable, he will poke his head out to say hello – especially when tempted by a delectable vegetable snack. If you spend some time with this inquisitive pig, he’ll be sure to show you his affectionate side.
Guinea pigs are good for kids, but they do take more maintenance than people think! If you are thinking of adopting Porky as a pet for a child, we recommend they be eight years or older so they understand pets are a big responsibility and need lots of time and attention.

Sunday and public holidays: Closed.
