Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Kahlua, Snuggles and Stripes are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.

Dog of the Week – Kahlua

All bow-wow down to our queen Kahlua.

Kahlua loves people and she would make a fantastic couch companion – albeit a large one. At 40 kg, Kahlua cruises around with all the grace of an ocean liner and behaves as though she runs the place.

Kahlua arrived at our shelter heavily pregnant and wanting some love and very quickly became a staff favourite with her big personality and beautiful nature. She graced us with a lovely litter of puppies who have all found a loving home. It is now her time to find her perfect family.

She loves her daily walks, but generally, toy play is beneath her. Kahlua would do best in a house with no other dogs – after all, each home can only have one queen. Because of her size, it is recommended that her new home has secure fencing, and she would be suited for a home with children over 12 years.

Snuggles and Stripes the guinea pigs

These brothers are an absolute treat.

Guinea Pigs of the Week – Stripes and Snuggles

Meet the dynamic duo Stripes and Snuggles.

This adorable pair of bonded brothers love each other and will require a large indoor enclosure as they have always lived indoors and don’t want to miss any of the action.

They might be shy at first, but given a chance, they will come out to check if you have treats, will graciously accept pats and even sit on your lap for a “veggie and veg out session”.

Stripes is the more confident of the two and particularly enjoys a good old head scratch. Their ideal feast would include a smorgasbord of hay, guinea pig pellets, cos lettuce, capsicum, carrot, kale, cherry tomatoes and their favourite, baby cucumber.

As guinea pigs are naturally shy, their perfect human will need to have a patient, gentle approach for them to truly blossom.

Visit the RSPCA at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it!
