Meet our lovable Pets of the Week at the RSPCA ACT Shelter looking for forever homes!

Theodora and Prince Eric are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.

Rabbit of the Week – Theodora

Meet our shy little girl Theodora.

Theodora was quite young and small when she came into the shelter as a stray. She is a sweet, albeit frightened little girl. Don’t let her shy personality deter you from meeting her. Given the time to feel comfortable with you, she will warm up for snuggles and pats; however, she doesn’t like being handled.

She would thrive in a household that would be consistent with socialising her. Due to her size, she would initially need to be housed indoors, but she could live in an appropriate outdoor hutch and run as she grows older.

If you have existing rabbits, she will get along with them. However, we recommend introducing them slowly and safely. She would need to age up some more before being introduced to adult rabbits.

She would make a lovely companion for a family with rabbit experience and the patience to let her come out of her shell.

Parrot

Meet Prince Eric, the charming parrot.

Bird of the Week – Prince Eric

Prince Eric wants to be a part of your world.

Prince Eric, a Princess Parrot, was brought into the shelter as a stray. He is a hand tame bird who is comfortable being around people. But even though he is hand tamed, he can still be a little shy with new people. Give him the time he needs to feel comfortable with you and be rewarded with his friendly personality.

Prince Eric would need to live with people who are experienced parrot owners. Princess Parrots can live for up to 30 years and they need a lot of love and care.

He loves to fly around his aviary at the shelter, so he would love to live in a large aviary with room to fly around and stretch his wings. Don’t forget to add lots of enrichment to keep him busy. Do you have a flock of birds and an aviary already? If you do, Prince Eric wants to meet you and your friendly flock of birds.

Visit the RSPCA at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it!

Theodora and Prince Eric for Federal Parliament. I am voting for them on 21 March. If you have to have ‘animals’ in the Federal Zoo they should be nice animals.
