Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Conan and Leelu are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.

Rabbit of the week – Conan

Barbarian by name but cool, calm and collected by nature, Conan is a very sweet lop-eared lad who would make an awesome fluffy companion.

Like his namesake, Conan did come to the shelter in desperate need of a haircut! He looks somewhat better now with his funky ‘do’ and he’ll only get more and more handsome. While his gold, brown and black locks regrow, he will benefit from regular grooming to stop any matts forming.

Conan is very inquisitive and likes to explore, but he’s equally happy to come to you for cuddles and pats. He would be happy as an indoor or outdoor bunny, so long as he has plenty of space to play and lots of love and attention. A companion rabbit may be a good thing too, after some careful introductions.

Conan is toilet-trained and will happily use a litter tray! Did you know you can teach rabbits many tricks, including come, fetch, jump and spin? Like dogs, rabbits make terrific companion pets that respond well to training with treats and positive reinforcement. Rabbits can get bored, but there are plenty of ways to keep them occupied other than giving your attention: they love to forage and dig, gnaw appropriate branches, play in boxes, and much more.

If you haven’t thought of bringing a rabbit into your life, get to know Conan. You might just change your mind.

Leelu

3.. 2..1… Smile! Leelu loves showing off her gorgeous smile.

Dog of the week – Leelu

Meet our lovely girl Leelu, a wonderfully energetic dog filled to the brim with love and affection. Leelu will greet you with kind eyes and an excited demeanour while undoubtedly leaning in against your leg for some cuddles.

Leelu is gentle by nature, paired with a strong physicality. She would need an owner who can handle her strength, but the reward is her boundless affection and enthusiasm for life. Besides walks and other daily activities, Leelu absolutely loves to play with her many toys and will undoubtedly put a smile on your face while sporting one on hers.

She would love to be the apple of your eye and prefers being the only pet of the household – which shouldn’t be a problem considering the amount of love she has to offer.

Leelu has been at RSPCA ACT for quite some time now and would absolutely love to go home to her new forever family. If you think she could be the right match for you, come and meet her at the shelter today!

Paw Note: Last week’s pets of the week, Minnie & Dudley, are both still looking for their forever homes.

Visit the RSPCA at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it!
