Driver allegedly crashed into bike-riding child before fleeing scene

Police are calling for witnesses after a car allegedly crashed into a child riding a bike in southern Canberra last week.

The 10-year-old boy was crossing the intersection of Namatjira Drive and Kambah Pool Road in Kambah at around 8:30 am on Thursday (22 February) when he was hit by a small, dark-coloured car, ACT Policing allege.

“The car stopped, but the driver did not get out, and the car left the scene soon after,” police said.

Witnesses helped the boy and he was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police are now calling on the driver to speak to them and any other witnesses who may have seen the incident.

If anyone has dash-cam footage of the area from around 8:30 am on Thursday, police want to speak to them, too.
