A Bite to Eat, one of Canberra’s favourite cafes, will present ‘Homemade Jam’, showcasing the finest up-and-coming singer-songwriters in Canberra, as part of Woden Alive 2011.

The winner will go on to perform at the Woden Valley Festival on November 5, which attracted a crowd of over 5,000 people last year.

Having achieved a cult following over the past seven years and doubling in size due to its popularity, A Bite to Eat is one of the Woden Valley’s hidden treasures. Scattered with unique, funky and retro furniture, the soulful sanctuary’s personality is split between an intimate, cosy café by day and an upbeat restaurant and bar by night.

Now under new ownership, the cafe has expanded its operations, introduced a new menu and is establishing itself as a much needed live music venue with regular Sunday night programs showcasing Canberra musical talent.

Homemade Jam is a new competition designed to support local musicians and get them widespread exposure. This will be an annual event and the organisers are excited by its potential to showcase a great live music venue on the southside as well as presenting some of Canberra’s great local musicians.

A Bite to Eat will host ‘Homemade Jam’ on Wednesday the 2nd of November during Woden Alive 2011, with the winner receiving $300 prize money and performing at the annual Woden Valley Festival on Saturday November 5.
