Start with the National Capital Exhibition at Regatta Point to understand the uniqueness of Canberra as a planned city. Then drive up to Mt Ainslie to see the land and water axis and Walter Burley Griffin’s dream realised. For sheer architectural beauty you can’t beat a guided tour of Parliament House.

Fraser Park Speedway – oh hang on, thats been closed.

Canberra Dragway – oh shit thats closed as well.

OK, I’ll play fair.

The Nolan Gallery in Tharwa is a surprise for people. I also like the portrait gallery at old parlt house, and the cafe there is OK as well.

For canberra views, forget telstra tower and mt ainslie, go to the lookout in duntroon.

The Tracking Station at Tidbinbilla is good for an hour or two followed by ‘spot the ‘roo’ at the Nature Reserve across the main road.
