ACT Police are investigating a car explosion in Ainslie this morning to determine if its owner has been deliberately targeted.
Police have confirmed commercial grade explosives were placed under the car before it was detonated in Cobb Crescent about 5:30 this morning.
The underbelly of the car’s been badly damaged.
The street was cordoned off for the bomb squad and a forensic team to collect evidence.
“We have no evidence to suggest this particular person was specifically targeted but obviously we don’t discount anything,” Detective Sergeant Chris Sheehan said.
Police say no one was injured, but concede it could have been extremely serious.
Police are speaking to neighbours and want anyone with information to contact them.
