Only days after her performance at Bluesfest 2015, the angelic voice of International sensation, Angelique Kidjo is coming to Canberra for the first time in April 2015. Angélique is one of the greatest forces in African music; her passion for her homeland and expressions of female empowerment comes through in her music through rich and powerful song.
Her latest album ‘Eve’ is dedicated to the women of Africa and the title is inspired by her mother. The album has seen great success on an international scale climbing its way to Number 1 on the Billboard World Chart. Her Eve tour is coming to the Nation’s Capital, at the Canberra Theatre for one night only.
Angélique Kidjo is a tireless campaigner for women’s health and education in Africa, a UNICEF Peace Ambassador and also, with a 20 year discography, 12 albums and thousands of concerts around the world, a gifted performer and prolific songwriter.
She has collaborated with the greats from the Jazz and Pop worlds—including Philip Glass, Peter Gabriel, Branford Marsalis, Dianne Reeves, Herbie Hancock, Bono, Josh Groban, and Alicia Keys as well as Bluesfest alumni Carlos Santana, Dave Matthews, Dr John, John Legend and Joss Stone.
She is a Grammy Award winner and her creative energy makes seeing her live performance an unforgettable experience.
