Meet Jeremy Scott at the launch of the Big Heart Appeal.
As a toddler, Jeremy Scott had a huge hole in his aorta valve that cruelly denied him the opportunity to live the life of a normal healthy child. At just four years of age Jeremy underwent Open Heart Surgery.
34 years later with practically no experience or training, Jeremy took the unbelievably courageous plunge and began a 2 ½ year, 51,916km bicycle ride that would see him cycle through 29 countries from London to New Zealand.
Jeremy will share his story as part of the launch of the annual Big Heart Appeal for Heart Foundation ACT.
Heart disease is the single biggest killer of Australians, taking a life every 27 minutes. Too many families are losing loved ones to heart disease. Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for men and women in Canberra. The Canberra community can help end the heartache by supporting the Heart Foundation Big Heart Appeal.
This September, with the help of 2600 volunteers, the Heart Foundation ACT aims to raise more than $200,000 to help fund the best heart researchers who are leading the fight against our single biggest killer.
If you want to help us, you can help by volunteering or donating generously to the Big Heart Appeal.
