The pick of this week’s live music offering is undoubtedly sideway and CBR DIG’s Crop Up Sessions. A semi-regular fixture on Wednesday nights at the second-storey bar on East Row, the night generally plays out like a who’s who of Canberra’s next crop of music acts. This week, you can catch dream pop duo Neko Pink alongside Eloria and Liv Li.
Also appearing is Pheno, the solo project of singer-songwriter-guitarist Jess Green. Her 2017 EP Dragon Year was a standout among local releases and seeing her jazz-informed art-pop back on stages this year is most welcome.
Fans of forward-thinking pop won’t want to miss Eleanor Ailie. Her recent releases ‘Lion’ and ‘Fraud’ combine earnest songwriting with dark, polished trap-rock production. Catch her playing with Jason Recliner and CJ Shaw this Sunday at Smith’s.
Tex Perkins is back at the Canberra Theatre Centre this Saturday, performing the songs of Jonny Cash for (perhaps) the last time, and Eurovision star Dami Im performs at Canberra Southern Cross Club Woden. Also on Saturday, Didirri and Ro bring their Tea Stains Tour to Canberra with an appearance at UC Hub.
