Rolling the asian supermarket in Phillip with a screwdriver

By johnboy - 15 September 2013 4

ACT Policing is appealing for witnesses to an aggravated robbery which occurred in Phillip last night (Saturday, September 14).

About 6.55pm, a man entered the Ah Chu Asian Provisions supermarket in Colbee Court, Phillip, wielding a screwdriver and demanding cash from the two staff members. The store had closed for the day when the man entered via the rear of the store.

The offender grabbed the cash drawer which contained a sum of cash and ran out of the store. He was seen to get into a red hatchback with ACT registration which police later identified as being stolen from Ainslie earlier in the day.

The offender is described as having a dark complexion, aged in his 20s, approximately 180cm (5’ 11”) tall, with a medium build and a strong accent, possibly Eastern European or Middle-Eastern.

He was wearing a blue-coloured shirt covering his head, dark clothing and gloves on his hands.

Anyone who may have witnesses suspicious activity in Colbee Court, Phillip, at the time of the incident or may be able to assist police in the investigation is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

If I see a bloke wearing a blue shirt, or in fact any shirt, covering his head I’ll be the first to ring crimestoppers. It’s definitely a suspicious look.

Oh that really sucks. Anyone who has shopped there will know that those guys are some of the nicest and most helpful shopkeepers in all of Canberra. Hope they catch the culprit.
