We have so many lovable animals looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter, and that is why we are so excited to share our new weekly instalment of ‘Pets of the Week’.
This week, we’re introducing you to our beloved Pie and Heratio!
DOG OF THE WEEK – PIE
Meet the apple of the Shelter’s eye, Pie.
Pie has been in our care since May and is desperate to start his life again with the right family.
He’s incredibly handsome but can be very cautious when meeting new people. For this reason, we’d need someone with plenty of love and patience. To put things in perspective, to get a photo of his handsome face, Pie had to be continuously touched and reassured by one of his carers, only then did he have the confidence to smile for the photographer!
The great thing about Pie is that, once he trusts you, he wants nothing more than to hang out and be best friends! He LOVES toys and eagerly engages in playful behaviour. After all, if you adopt him, you’re accepting him as your new bff. What better feeling for Pie than to play with toys AND his best friend?
At this stage, Pie would prefer to be an ‘only’ dog, but boy oh boy, what a great dog he’d make!
Contact our Shelter to arrange a time for you to meet Pie. After all, you can never have too much sweetness in your life!
DUCK OF THE WEEK – HERATIO
Do you have a large yard? Have a love of animals with glossy coats? Think flippers are the cutest?
If you answered yes to any of the above, you’re in luck! Heratio is the duck you never knew you needed!
Heratio is a handsome eight-month-old Khaki Campbell Duck. Like many male fowls, he was surrendered to the Shelter when he turned out to be male – an all too common occurrence when people buy unsexed animals. In his previous home, Heratio adored his ladies and enjoyed spending time with them. Being the ladies man that he is, he enjoyed showing off his mightiness by ‘protecting’ his lady friends from the friendly family dog (even though there was no need AND a fence between them)! Nevertheless, it’s the thought that counts.
What a good duck!
Since arriving at RSPCA ACT, Heratio has been living the single life and is adamant that being a bachelor is not for him! He’d LOVE to spend his time amongst the female ducks and meeting all the lovely single ladies! Can you play matchmaker with this ladies man?
Initially, Heratio was a shy young lad but has since come out of his shell with a little encouragement and has proven to be quite an inquisitive fellow. He’ll potter down and see what’s happening when a staff member is filling up his big baths! If you have ducks of your own and are ready to adopt today, please come and say hello!
