Charlotte

Little squeaker Charlotte needs a lot of love.

Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Charlotte and Percy are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.

Rat of the Week – Charlotte

She may not be able to cook you a fancy French meal, but Charlotte can still be your best friend! This adorable little fuzzball was surrendered along with her three sisters to the shelter, and now they all need their own safe and cozy homes.

Rats are highly intelligent, affectionate and loving pets. They are inquisitive and love to have new games and puzzles to keep them stimulated. They are also quite agile, so they will need an enclosure with lots of different climbing apparatus they can clamber about on. Rats are very loyal and can recognise their owners. This is clear when we come to say hello to Charlotte and her sisters, they’ll rush up and give little squeaks of excitement – especially when we come bearing gifts of veggie snacks!

In their last home, Charlotte and her siblings were exposed to a common respiratory illness in rats. While they are not symptomatic, we think it’s best that they’re not exposed to any current rats in your home and be adopted individually or with one of their siblings.

Percy

Meet Percy!

Dog of the Week – Percy

Percy is a handsome and friendly dog who is looking for a family to call his own. If you’re a moderately active person who enjoys exercising, Percy will make an excellent companion. He is just over 5 years old, so he still has plenty of energy to burn. He loves his daily walks and when he stretches his legs, he can run like a rocket. Percy is playful with people he knows and loves a good game. Once he’s all tuckered out, though, Percy loves cuddling in close and enjoys a good scratch on his belly.

Percy has had some experience with young children, and he got on well with them. With gentle introductions so he can get used to all members of the family, we think he’d be an excellent family dog! We’d recommend Percy for a family with kids 8 plus.

Percy has had some nice basic training, but he sometimes struggles to show his best self in the shelter environment. With consistent training in a distraction-free setting, we think that Percy will easily learn even more skills. He’ll respond well to rewards like pats, treats or games.

Percy would do best if he were the only dog in the house. He would make a loyal friend for someone who was home more often than not. He’s quite content to just sit near his people, so if you would like a study buddy with you while you worked, Percy is your man!

Visit the RSPCA at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it!
