Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Floppy and Typhoon are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.

Dog of the Week – Floppy

Don’t let his name fool you, Floppy is nowhere near his flop era! He is a big soft gentleman who is hoping to get involved in everything the family undertakes. Floppy is a true friend and companion!

He arrived at the shelter due to some rough luck, not because of his sweet nature. His ideal home would be with people that are home more often than not and can welcome this gentle giant into a secure environment.

From what we have observed, it seems Floppy hasn’t had many interactions with children, so we would recommend a home with older (preferably teenage) children.

Floppy loves to exercise, and as his size indicates, can be quite strong on the lead. His walkers will need to give him plenty of exercise and be mindful of his strength. However, he settles in and trots along quite contently once he gets a rhythm walking.

Floppy would do best in a house with no other dogs, and because of his wolfhound breed, shouldn’t be around small pocket pets such as rabbits.

Watch out, it’s Typhoon!

Cat of the Week – Typhoon

Typhoon blew into the shelter after being rescued from living in a house with many other cats. After her whirlwind change, she is starting to adjust to her new surroundings. Typhoon is getting more and more confident each day but she will still need a bit more time to settle with her new owners. At just one year old, though, Typhoon is sure to blossom into a beautiful pet!

Despite her rambunctious name, Typhoon is a quiet character. New people, fast movements and loud noises can give her the jitters. So it’s important that when meeting him that interactions are made at the pace of a gentle sunny day rather than a Cyclone Tracy.

Typhoon’s new home should be calm and quiet so she can continue building her confidence. She would also love a cat run where she can blow off some steam and relax if she gets a little overwhelmed.

Having come from a home with many other cats, we think that Typhoon would happily live with other friendly cats, but she doesn’t care for dogs.

Typhoon will make a lovely pet for a quiet family home that wants a companion to spend quality time with.

Visit the RSPCA at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it!
