Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Kevin and Ace are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.

Cat of the Week – Kevin

Kevin may have a pretty ordinary name, but don’t let that fool you because he is one special cat.

The cattery has described this guy as a totally chill dude who just wants to hang out with his people.

You might wonder where he is on occasion as his foster said he had a fondness for slinking about the house. But he’ll quickly make himself known with a friendly chirp behind you, generally around mealtime. Eating dinner for this guy is a social affair. Kevin likes to have people around while he munches and will often pause while eating to give a meow or two in conversation.

Kevin can be a bit anxious, but once you’ve earned his trust, he’ll want nothing more than your company and will be sleeping on your bed in no time. He loves nice gentle pats and scratches and is quick to let you know when he’s had enough. He is just learning to play with toys and seems to be warming up to playtime quickly.

Kevin is a beautiful cat with a sweet, sociable personality, who charms everyone he meets. He will need to be an indoor-only cat as he is FIV-positive, but that suits him fine as long (as you’re there with him). He has shown a lot of interest in other cats in the shelter, so he may be able to live with another FIV cat.

Ace

Ace is looking for someone to play with.

Dog of the Week – Ace

Meet Ace! This beautiful young Labrador cross German Shephard is excited to find his forever home. Ace is still a pup, and a growing pup at that! He will probably grow into a large dog, so we think he’d best suit a family with previous experience handling bigger breeds. Ace has a lovely temperament and is quite affectionate with people. He can be quite boisterous, though, so he will need an owner who is willing and ready to put in some time for his training.

The best way to motivate Ace is food! At times, he can become distracted, so having some high-quality treats to get him back on track and checking in with you is a must. Given the proper training and direction, Ace will make a fantastic dog.

Ace would benefit from an owner with energy in the tank – just like him! Ace has been described by those that like him best at the shelter as a “big boof-head just raring to go!” If you’re partial to a game of tug of war or a frolic in the park, Ace is ready to be your partner for life.

Ace would adore an older female dog to keep him company and teach him how to be a gentleman dog. We think he’s best suit kids around 12.

Adopt Ace and he’s sure to become your best friend: from experience, it will take all of 10 seconds.

Visit the RSPCA at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it!
