Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!
Milly and Kenobi are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.
Quail of the Week – Milly
Milly is a small quail with a big personality. Her favourite pastimes include foraging for tasty mealworms, dustbathing to keep her feathers in top shape, and playing in her straw. Milly has even taken to laying an egg or two while here at the shelter and likes to keep an eye on all the comings and goings in her current aviary.
Milly recognises a quail-ity home when she sees one. She will need an outdoor aviary with lots of floor space to explore, as quails generally like to stay on the ground. She will also need a nice comfy roosting area. This will be her space to relax and provide protection from the wind, rain and cold. Interested adopters will need to provide photos of their current setup for Milly’s approval.
Milly will also need some quail friends to share her new home with. This will help to keep her happy – quails are a flock species, so they tend to be a bit stressed if they are on their own! Her new friends will also help to keep her days busy. Of course, she would also like some people friends, specifically ones who are ready to spoil her with plenty of nice things and tasty treats.

Cat of the Week – Kenobi
Obi-Wan once said: “Be mindful of your thought Anakin, they betray you.” Well, the only thing we are thinking about is how cute Kenobi is!
This handsome boy arrived at our shelter very shy and scared. After a lot of patience, gentle care and yummy treats, Kenobi has well and truly come out of his shell (so to speak)! He can now be found rolling around and chasing the leaves in our outdoor cat run – our staff can never resist patting him whenever we walk past! He is a curious investigator and loves a good head scratch. Kenobi is all about his toys, and is quite partial to a wand toy game with his favourite people!
Having come from a busy and stressful household, Kenobi has realised he needs a quieter, more relaxed home. He would like to be the only pet, as this means he doesn’t have to share his toys or his cuddle time with anyone else! Kenobi will need a patient, experienced cat owner who will allow him to take his time to settle into his new environment. We also recommend that Kenobi has access to a secure cat run, so he can explore safely to his heart’s content. He has certainly loved our cat run here at the shelter!
Visit the RSPCA at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it!
