Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Toro and Isabelle are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.

Guinea Pig of the Week – Toro

Toro is Spanish for bull, but this guinea pig couldn’t be any softer!

Toro came to us through no fault of his own after being surrendered. He is a sweet and funny fuzzball. While he is large for a guinea pig, Toro can be very shy, but with some patience, time and quiet cuddles, he will start to show you his fantastic personality.

Having previously lived with another male guinea pig, it is possible that Toro could make a new friend; however, they will need very slow and careful introductions and plenty of room to get away from each other, just like housemates! With the winter cold, we have been housing Toro inside so his new home will need to have a large hutch indoors or at least be able to bring him inside overnight to ensure he is safe and warm.

Guinea pigs make excellent pets for people who want a furry companion but may be limited on space and don’t have time for walkies but who have plenty of time for hugs and pats!

Come meet this fuzzy potato to warm up your winter.

Dog of the Week – Isabelle

It’s impossible to sum up in a few words how much we adore Isabelle at the shelter.

But as much as we love seeing her smiley face and wagging tail in the morning, it upsets us knowing that this lonely girl is missing out on the opportunity to be with a loving family of her own.

Izzy is gorgeous and you may have seen her big grin before lighting up our socials. She absolutely loves other people and is extremely affectionate and cuddly. Izzy wants nothing more than to snuggle up on a couch with her new owners and receive plenty of belly rubs.

Izzy is best suited to being an only dog as she can be quite ‘dog reactive’. This is perfectly manageable; however, her owners will just need to have it in mind during walkies. Isabelle came to us extremely thin and emaciated, but you wouldn’t be able to tell from her lovely chunky healthy body today! She is an absolute snack fiend and she responds very well to food-motivated training.

Izzy is quite agile and will need a tall Colorbond fence to keep her secure. True to her Border Collie roots, Izzy loves playing with a tennis ball and has excellent recall. Her new owners will be delighted by how good she is with games!

As Isabelle has been with us for over 100 days, we’re currently running a promotion – her adoption fees have been lowered to just $100!

If you’re looking for a beautiful dog to fill an empty hole in your life, Isabelle has infinite love and joy to give.

Visit the RSPCA at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it!
