Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Winston and Surya are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.

Dog of the Week – Winston

Meet the magnificent Winston, the man with one of the most majestic coats we have ever seen.

When this handsome boy came into the shelter, he was nervous and very unsocialised, but our amazing kennels team worked with him to help him come out of his shell. When Winston warms up, he is fond of pats and cuddles with people he knows. He also has excellent dog skills – he can sit, shake, drop, and gently take treats.

Although he can be nervous with new people, Winston will shine with time and patience from a loving owner. In his previous life, Winston didn’t live inside so he is a little fearful of being indoors. However, with time, we believe he will be a lovely indoor dog.

Winston is an independent dog and leaving him alone for periods of time is feasible as he is not what we call ‘needy’. However, he would also suit a home where you have the time to work with him on becoming the absolute loyal and loving companion he has the potential to be.

Surya

Who’s a pretty girl? Surya’s a pretty girl!

Bird of the Week – Surya

Surya was brought into the shelter after she was found injured and alone. She required some much-needed love and care with us before we could place her up for adoption, but now she is ready to find her new home.

Surya has sadly been with us for quite some time. She’s a beautiful bird, but she is not hand-tame and she is very shy around humans (which is why she’s still with us).

We highly recommend that Surya be housed with other birds. A flock would help her come out of her shell, and with some patience and calm interactions, she may even learn to feel comfortable around humans.

If you have a flock of birds and a big aviary with room for another bird, we want to see you! Come in and chat with our team about meeting Surya.

Visit the RSPCA at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it!
