Time to lay off the teens if you're in a position of authority. Also get rid of your tablet press

Generally speaking it’s a fairly bad idea to have sex with teenagers unless you are one yourself.

But Simon Corbell is legislating to make sure teachers, coaches, and care givers need to take especial care if the objects of their affections are under 18:

“This is an important piece of legislation that will bring the ACT into line with other Australian jurisdictions, and will work to protect 16 and 17 year olds from being exploited by others who are in a position of power like a teacher, sporting coach or care giver,” Mr Corbell said.

“The laws will create two new offences: sexual intercourse and act of indecency with a young person under special care, which will ban sexual relationships between teachers, coaches and others in a care relationship with 16 or 17 year olds.

While he’s at it Simon’s also moving against possession of a pill press. Which will be especially bad news for any teachers making disco biscuits for 16 and 17 year olds.
