A devastating single-vehicle crash near Cooma in the early hours of this morning has claimed two lives.
The highway is open, but police investigations at the scene are ongoing.
At about 3:40 am (July 28), emergency services were called to the Monaro Highway, near Rose Valley Road, Bunyan, about 10km north of Cooma, following reports a vehicle travelling southbound had left the road and rolled.
“The back-seat passenger – a female child – and a front seat male passenger, were declared deceased at the scene,” the initial police report read.
However, the report was later revised to reveal that the female was an adult.
“The driver and two other passengers were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Cooma Hospital.
“Officers from Monaro Police District are in attendance and have established a crime scene, which will be examined by the Crash Investigation Unit.
“Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash continue.”
No further details are known at this stage.
Traffic is affected in both directions on the Monaro Highway near Rose Valley Road, however, a contraflow is in place. Further advice is available via Live Traffic NSW.
