ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to assist in its investigation of an armed robbery at the Woden Tradies Club in Phillip during the early hours of this morning.
Police were called to the location around 2.20am today (Tuesday, August 9) after it had been reported that two men dressed in black clothing, “hoodies” and masks had entered the club and menaced the staff. One of the offenders was armed with what appeared to be a handgun while the other carried a machete. A sum of cash was stolen.
One of the offenders is a male about 183cm (6’) tall, between 20 to 30 years old, with a deep voice. The second offender is believed to be around the same age.
The offenders fled on foot in the direction of Lyons.
No-one was injured during the robbery.
Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the men leaving the club on foot toward Lyons, or any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the offence. Anyone who may be able to assist police is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
