Woman shocked and friend stabbed in attempted robbery

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an attempted robbery and stabbing in the car park of a Fyshwick fast food outlet on Friday 19 January.

Police said that about 10.40 pm, a man has used an electrical weapon to shock a woman while attempting to steal her handbag, then stabbed a friend who came to her assistance.

The incident occurred on the corner of Canberra Avenue and Nyrang Street.

The offender fled on foot and is described as being about 188cm (6’2”) tall, of medium build, and wearing a black hooded jumper and dark shorts.

Police are seeking anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident and witnessed anything unusual, or who may have dash-cam footage from the location to contact them on 131 444, or to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
