Harvey and Nelly are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.
Dog of the Week – Harvey
Are you ready to fall in love with Harvey?
We don’t think you’ll ever find a dog that will melt your heart as much as Harvey does. From the moment you see him at the shelter, you just want to take him home with you. He brightens up the yards with his large smile and his chatter. There’s nothing better than taking Harvey for a walk and watching that fluffy tail swish in the wind.
Harvey loves his food and his toys … a lot. Though there’s nothing more thrilling than tennis ball time in the yard with Harvey, just make sure you’re ready to play his favourite game, “trade”. He’ll give you the ball if you give him a treat (cheeky boy). He’s a Siberian Husky x Border Collie, and we can absolutely see both breeds in his personality. And although he looks more like a Husky, he’s got the playfulness of a Border Collie.
Harvey’s an active boy who will require his (very) regular walks. If you can fit the bill, we invite you to come down to the shelter and meet our special boy who’s sure to become your new best mate.
Nelly wants to fly away … to you.
Bird of the Week – Nelly
She’s like a bird, she wants to fly away … to her new home?
Our little Nelly Furtado is no negative nelly. Originally adopted from the RSPCA with two of our pigeons, they were all sadly returned as their new owner was allergic to them.
Nelly has settled in quite well to life in her enclosure and has been living quite happily there, but she would suit a similar enclosure in your home. She would really love a flight aviary. She is as happy as can be when she has space to fly around and a few friends to keep her company. She has a few with her if you’re interested!
She’d make a lovely pet for anyone willing to put in the time to socialise with her and her new friends. Come on down to the shelter and meet our lovely girl, Nelly.

Monday to Friday: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Sunday and public holidays: Closed.
