A five-year-old boy has ended up in hospital with serious injuries after allegedly being assaulted by a teenager in Monash.
Police said the boy’s family were at Monash Park Playground on Friday (25 August) between 4:30 pm and 5 pm, where a teenager was allegedly riding a motorised mountain bike “erratically” in the local drains and parklands.
It’s believed the teen headed towards the playground and assaulted the five-year-old boy while on the bike before fleeing the scene.
The boy was seriously injured and taken to hospital by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics. He is now recovering at home.
Police said the alleged attacker was riding a black and white mountain bike with a ‘whipper snipper’ style engine fitted under the seat at the time.
Officers wish to speak to anyone who saw what happened or who may have information about teenagers with motorised pushbikes in the surrounding region.
Anyone with information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, quoting reference 7522424. Information can be provided anonymously.
