Police are seeking witnesses to the alleged assault of a child in Westfield Woden almost a year ago, which is believed to have been captured on film.
ACT Policing allege two boys assaulted another boy in the shopping centre, which a girl filmed on a mobile phone, at around 7:15 pm on Sunday, 17 September 2023.
While three youths have been charged, on Tuesday (11 June), police said they wanted to speak to two girls who were present around the time of the alleged assault who may be able to identify the alleged offenders.
Police described one girl as Caucasian in appearance, with a medium build and blonde and purple hair. She was wearing a black top, blue jeans, white sneakers and a black cap.
“It is understood she provided first aid to the victim following the alleged assault,” a police spokesperson said.
The other girl was described as Caucasian in appearance, with a medium build and dark hair. She was wearing a black top, grey zip-through jumper, black pants, as well as black and white shoes.
“Police are urging both of these girls to make contact as they may have information that could assist the investigation.” the police spokesperson said.
“We would like to stress that neither of these girls are in any trouble in relation to the alleged assault.”
A number of other adults and juveniles were present at the location after the alleged assault. Police also urged any of these people who have not yet spoken to them to come forward.
