If you’re the forgetful type – and you bought a lottery ticket in Woden earlier this year – it might be time to rifle through your pockets and purses.

As we count down the days until lockdown lifts, it seems there’s one lucky person who could emerge $4.8 million richer – as long as they can find that ticket!

The Lott has released new figures that show more than $15 million is waiting to be claimed in division one and first prizes over the past six months.

There are nine unclaimed major prizes collectively worth $15,170,586.74 won during the past six months in Set for Life, Saturday Lotto, Monday and Wednesday Lotto and Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot – the vast majority of them in NSW.

But someone bought a ticket in Set for Life draw 2072 at the Thistle Kiosk in Woden and they could come out of lockdown a multi-millionaire.

The lottery was drawn on 8 April 2021, but the entry could have been purchased up to 10 weeks earlier.

All the unclaimed tickets – including the Woden-bought winning ticket – are unregistered, so officials from The Lott have no way of contacting the winners to break the news. Instead, they must wait for them to come forward and claim their prize.

Of the other life-changing entries, four were sold in Greater Sydney and one each in Port Stephens, Lake Macquarie, Port Macquarie and Newcastle.

The Lott spokesperson Lauren Cooney said it was unusual to see so many unclaimed prizes in the one state, but understandably, people’s routines had been significantly impacted in recent months.

“We know that lottery players haven’t been able to check their tickets as they normally would but with restrictions beginning to ease throughout the state, it’s the perfect time to make sure you do,” she said.

“There are currently nine people … who don’t need to be waiting until the next lottery draw for their chance to win a life-changing prize – they already have but they just don’t know it yet.

“We have no doubt your plans for the rest of the year are looking up but post-lockdown they could be a whole lot more exciting if you checked your ticket and realised you were holding a major prize-winning entry!

“If you do realise you’re holding a division one winning entry, please call us on 131 866 to begin the process of claiming your prize.”

You can check your ticket at your nearest lottery outlet, on The Lott app or at thelott.com.
