Tuggeranong had the multilane Parkway back when Kambah was the furtherest suburb. Gungahlin only has the GDE goat track complete with bottle necks and yet Gungahlin would have to be close to being half finished I would think.

Fully duplicated, service roads, plus with space down the centre for bidirectional light rail.

On that subject, when is the rest of the GDE duplication due to occur? Better yet, what planning does the govt have to address the transport issues in this area?

We have new suburbs coming up (Crace/Casey) with no improvements to the road infrastructure around them? What gives? The amount of land sold out there in the past 10 years should mean *a lot* of funds from Stamp duty.. where the re-investment back into the area?

Would be great if it was going all the way through though. Flemington Rd is a capacity and then some in the mornings now, as so many people have givn up on the Gungahlin Drive joke.

To get out of Harrison, we have a left turn slip lane, but I’ve had to start going up to the lights to trigger them then backing up to get in the slip lane – it’s then only way we can get a break in the traffic some days.

The chronic lack of foresight that has got us to this situation is gobsmacking – a town of some 38,000 people, with almost everyone forced to commute out, but not a single one of the commuter roads up to the job…

Oh – and something like a third of us on that commute deliberately steered THROUGH the town centre street to boot…That takes a truly special kind of foresight to pull that off.

And now it’s going to be duplicated. Not a bad effort from this ‘government’ – 6 years of disruption and costs probably far exceeding the amount it would have cost if it was dual lanes from day one. GDE fiasco but on a smaller scale…
