I’m hoping to fill my freezer with winnings from meat raffles.

Which venues have the best odds?

we usually win friday nights at woden southern cross club. very rare that we don’t. best night was 3.

Thanks all (execpt schmeah).

I’m going to hit the clubs over the next few weeks and test my luck. I’ll send my reviews through to JB.

Doesn’t matter where we go for meat raffles, it can be a near death experience!! For example, we always get the death stares from all the nannas like we are about to take food out of their mouths. If we win one meat tray, we are lucky! If we win 2, we are lucky if we make it out alive and don’t get kneecapped with their walking sticks. I’m with some of you, preserve your life, buy your meat and stay at home!!!! Otherwise the guilt will get you with every mouthful of delicious rump. It could be YOUR nanna left eating catfood coz some young blow in won HER meat! 😉 But, if you are game, try Ainslie Footy Club monster meat raffle on fri nights! New meat supplier: Dickson Butcher. Top quality, lean meat! Be sure to bring your best ‘smug’ face for when you walk away with some nannas dinner! Victory tastes great! For added smugness, be sure to mention loudly how your dog is going to love steak for dinner. [note: no nannas were injured in this post, just left hungry and cursing us as we walk out with 4 meat trays tucked under our young limber arms. Heehee, suck it nannas! These are for MY freezer!] :-p

I’ve won meat trays at Jamison SCC and found them really good, they look great and the meat is allways tender. Go to any butcher shop or supermarket around town and see what you can buy for the same value as any of those trays! NOT MUCH I BET!!! What do you want the butcher to do, put meat on there for nothing and loose money? It amazes me that you win meat and complain about it, given the price of the stuff these days. I allways buy my meat from the butcher at Jamison and they are a hell of alot cheaper than others around canberra and the meat has been second to none.

I’ve never won a meat tray from Simco but I’ve bought plenty of meat from them and always have been quite happy with the quality and service.
I also know they’ve won a couple of awards for their ham which is made on the premises as is their bacon etc.

Canberra Southern Cross Club in Jamison used to have great meat trays …

Was at Jammo SCC while they were spruiking their meat trays last night, and they announced they were supplied by Simco meats over in the Plaza. So there’s your problem.

Unique Meats supply meat trays all over the place, and they are reliably superior. (And no, I’m not connected to them in any way – just consistently happy with their gear.)

In the end the more tickets you buy the more of a chance you have of winning. With that said instead of blowing $100 on raffle tickets you would be better to take that $100 and go to a butcher, not only are you guaranteed meat in the freezer but you can choose your own. Canberra Southern Cross Club in Jamison used to have great meat trays and it was fairly easy to win but my folks won 2 last week and gave me one, it was one of the worst I have seen. 1 leg of lamb, 3 sausages and 3 BBQ chops. Nothing to get excited about.

2words-FRASER TAVERN!!!
see ya there and GREAT BEER TOO

At this stage, I can report .. I’ve heard it all! People enter these butcher fests because they ‘might’ win not because they want to feed themselves for the rest of the year off the winnings.

For God’s sake, get a real job and buy the stuff! Or go veg and save yourself and the environment a fortune.

Pretty much every time Mr Jessieduck goes to the Canberra Club on a Friday night he comes home with a tray of something or other.

Fair-ish call, JB.
I go to Hawker Soccer Club, but I don’t know how the odds compare with other places. I do know that their random number generator ain’t terribly random; numbers tend to come out in clusters, so people who win anything tend to win multiples. When you hit a cluster, it’s a bonanza. When you don’t, it’s maddening.

mike’s meats.

ahh, an information hoarder appears…

So all of RA can turn up and hammer those odds?
