Coastal commuters who successfully navigate this month’s Kings Highway closures will find a new hiccup in their travel plans in November.
Motorists travelling between Canberra and Batemans Bay have had to plan their drives around major maintenance and repair work on the Kings Highway at Clyde Mountain since 12 October.
Transport NSW has closed the highway in both directions at night between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am, Monday to Thursday, for about three weeks.
Roadworks are also being carried out during the day between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm Monday to Thursday, and 6:00 am and 12:00 pm on Fridays, causing short delays.
Depending on weather, the highway closures are expected to wrap up at the end of the month.
However, motorists can expect more delays and changed traffic conditions on the Kings Highway at Nelligen from 2 November as safety improvement work is carried out west of McCardys Creek Road.
The work will include shoulder widening, resealing, guardrail installation and audio-tactile line marking for 650 metres of the Kings Highway to improve the road surface.
Work will be carried out between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm weekdays until Friday, 18 December, weather permitting.
Traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
Motorists are being advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
