The Canberra Times brings news as to the dire self-promotion which will masquerade as entertainment for the Australia Day Concert in 2006.
It seems Russell Crowe will be interrupting his nine week residency at the Vanguard Hotel (Newtown), despite this CT blather I’m guessing was lifted from a media release:
Since striking it big in the American film industry, the Oscar winner has found it increasingly hard to make it back to Australia, and organisers of the annual bash are delighted to have landed one of entertainment’s most sought-after names.
Other famewhores being paid to cross-promote will be Rogue Traders, Thirsty Merc, Jade MacRae, Joel Turner and Bob Downe.
The real mark of quality is that it “will be co-hosted by Big Brother presenter Gretel Killeen and Australian Idol hosts James Mathison and Andrew G.”
I suppose I should give thanks that we’ve moved on from dodgy “Idols”
