- ACT Policing has arrested four men following a disturbance in Calwell early yesterday morning (1 February).
About 12.45am police were called to the Caltex service station on Webber Street after receiving a report that a group of intoxicated men were allegedly harassing staff. Police attempted to move the group on however some of the men allegedly refused to follow police directions to leave the area and became aggressive and abusive towards the officers.
As a result, police were forced to use capsicum spray to gain control of the situation. Four males were taken into custody.
During the incident a police officer received minor cuts and abrasions to his face, ribs, knees and arm, and a 46-year-old Gordon man has been charged with common assault in relation to these injuries.
He and three other men, aged between 20 and 27, have also been charged with obstruct territory public official. All four men have been granted bail and will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court on 10 February.
- ACT Policing has arrested a 47-year-old Flynn man after members of the Territory Investigation Group Drug Investigation Team located drugs and a large sum of cash during a search warrant at his premises on January 31.
The man will be charged with traffic in a controlled drug, unlawful possession of stolen property and possess prohibited substance after an amount of white powder, suspected of being heroin, and about $15,000 cash was located.
The man will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (2 February).
A second man has been charged with possess prohibited substance after he was observed by police allegedly purchasing a substance, suspected of being heroin, from the Flynn man.
The 26-year-old Watson resident was granted bail and will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court on 10 February.
