Serious collision at Dickson over weekend

ACT Policing attended a serious collision between a pedestrian and a car at the intersection of Northbourne Avenue and Antill Street in Dickson on Saturday night (25 April).

About 10.50pm a car turned right from Mouat Street Lynham, then proceeded southbound along Northbourne Avenue when a pedestrian ran out on to the road from Antill Street.

The pedestrian was stuck by the front left guard of the vehicle and his head struck the left side of the windscreen near the ‘A pillar’ before he came to rest on the roadway.
He was assisted at the scene by the driver and other motorists and emergency services were contacted.

The man was transported by ACT Ambulance to the Canberra Hospital in a critical condition.

Members from ACT Policing’s Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team were called to investigate the incident.

Northbourne Avenue southbound lanes were blocked for several hours while the scene was processed.

Investigations are continuing.
