Regular Rioter Poetix has pointed out to us some rather unfortunate pole placing in Turner.
No, this is not a message for any guilty Skywhale haters. Sorry if you’ve had this before, but this is a photograph on Barry Drive, taken while waiting in the right-hand turn lane that leads into into McCaughey Street, Turner. It is very difficult to see the arrows allowing (or disallowing) a turn, because the new mega-light facing the other way has been constructed in front of them. This is quite dangerous, as some people may sail through on the green light for vehicles going straight ahead, being unable to see the red arrow.

It was clearly a work in progress so my vote is none of the above, rather maybe that just got around to doing it as orginally planned.
The lights are all fixed up now, easily visible in front of the big light. Power of the Riot? Mere coincidence? Who can say?

Yes, but then he should have acted as an ED and fixed up my text to match…so I didn’t look like a person who doesn’t understand how to construct a proper and amusing segue. However, as I do occasionally tease Deputy Jewel Barshrimp for his imperfect use of apostrophes and all, perhaps he allowed himself to weld it together so as to be just a little clunky. Or, more likely, he didn’t notice!
It’s all good (-:
And more importantly, the dodgy lights do need a fixing.

You would still have to give way to traffic coming the other way in any case, so light or no light it is your issue. No different to what would happen if the globe was blown etc.
Though in this case it is still quite clearly a work in progress, I hope the light assembly behind is placed onto the closer pole and this is not the final configuration.

I quite liked the ‘revised’ heading!
Wonder what the outcome would be legally if someone were to run the red and have a crash. Who would be at fault if the turning driver couldn’t see the light….?
One of many problems with that whole area. Coming in to Civic the configuration of lanes changes just before the lights, causing all sorts of rudeness to be first in line. Lanes are just as confusing leaving Civic, with Form One Lanes all over the shop. Traffic tends to bank up on the right hand side as a result of the first Form One Lane, often leaving people stuck behind cars waiting to turn right (as pictured).
they just replace the 1 metre high pedestrian button pole in the middle there with a taller one (much jack hammering required!) and relocated the red man boxes to it, without benefit of higher resolution pic I suspect the new pedestrian control/red man pole is what is obstructing the lights?-

Possibly under ‘Roads’, ‘Road safety – or ‘Traffic lights’!? 🙂
My suggested headline was Arrow, what arrow, which made the Skywhale reference make sense. Replaced by…well you know who. He’s very trying.
