For many Canberrans, climbing the property ladder is a lifelong journey. From the first modest unit through to grand stately home, each move brings with it a promise to start anew. And as few investments are as big as property, these calculated decisions are best made wisely.

Whether you are ready to list or eager to buy, these steps on the ladder will attract one common denominator – a pile of paperwork with page after page of legal jargon. Now with fine print and property law to consider, most of us seek the services of a conveyancing lawyer.

As licensed professionals, conveyancing lawyers specialise in the transfer of property ownership. Well adept at property law they ensure legal obligations are met and that rights are protected. If you are seeking a conveyancing lawyer in Tuggeranong, then you have come to the right place. Below is our pick of Tuggeranong’s best.

What makes a great conveyancing lawyer?

Great conveyancing lawyers’ direct property title proceedings for clients. Bet a purchase, sale, or update, they ensure legal requirements are met. Looking for a conveyancing lawyer in Tuggeranong? We think these attributes separate the best from the rest:

  • Qualified. The ACT’s unique property market and governing legislation requires specialist skills to navigate. So, be sure to seek a conveyancing team appropriately qualified and up to the task. Naturally, formal education, certifications, and practising admission are a given. To assess qualifications, reference the likes of the Australian Institute of Conveyancers and the ACT Law Society. Finally, consider a conveyancer’s reputation. The best will come readily recommended by your nearest and dearest.
  • Specialised. When seeking a conveyancing lawyer in Tuggeranong, consider your specific needs. While many are well rounded property law experts, not all have the innate knowledge required for every transaction. Equally, not all conveyancers are lawyers. Thus, in the same way that their specialisation can impact your outcome, so too can their area of practice. Always consider your own personal circumstances and elect a conveyancer accordingly.
  • Efficient. When it comes to property transfers, timing is of the essence. The best conveyancing lawyers excel at quick turnarounds, ready to complete each stage of the transfer in a timely manner. This efficiency not only moves things along; it also minimises stress. Here, conveyancing teams take the initiative with no call left unanswered and no email without a reply. Look for swift attention, proactivity, and support teams that follow through on their own accord.
  • Affordable. As with any professional service, one of the biggest factors governing whom you appoint is cost. And while the cost differential between lawyers may be small, understanding charges upfront allows for preparedness and planning. Therefore, gain clarity on the contact, fine print, inclusions, exclusions, and all fees subject to your transaction.
  • Communicator. Any high performing legal team prides itself on clear, effective communication. More than simply words on a page, the best understand that effective communication is key to great client relationship. They listen intently, gauge understanding, and seek clarification when needed. Often the best way to assess is to meet your conveyancing lawyer, and their team, in person.

I could not and would not recommend Velocity Conveyancing. Settlement was Monday it is now Friday and they have only just transferred the funds which will not appear in my account until Monday. There are immediate transfers that could have been used. I will miss out on bidding on a property due to their delay.
