The developer of Denman Prospect has confirmed that the IGA supermarket known as The Farm at Denman Village Shops will close on Saturday to make way for a new operator.

Capital Airport Group says it has secured the services of a new, locally-based operator to manage the supermarket at Denman Village Shops, and it will temporarily close to restock.

There had been reports of supply issues and inadequate stock on the shelves for some time. The store opened in January this year.

Capital Airport Group says the temporary closure will not affect the trading hours of other operators in the centre.

It has also announced that Capital Chemist and Domino’s pizza will open at the shops in coming months.

Several hundred new residents are expected to move into the Molonglo Valley suburb by the end of the year.

Capital Airport Group says it is committed to having successful shops at Denman Prospect, including a vibrant supermarket.

“We also remain committed to early delivery of retail and community services to give our growing community what they need,” a spokesperson said.

Kelly - Pity the full story wasn’t reported. Very sad for the owners and residents 😢

At least this was quick for local residents. He ran the local IGA in yass to the ground, same issues and this went on for a long time.

I think it’s opening was premature. There is heaps of apartments/ townhouses that will be completed June 2020. I am moving next to the shops next year.

From memory, wasn't the owner/mgr commuting weekly from the south coast? Surely that wasn't sustainable.

And the one in Yass as well? Same owners I think.

I’m truly going to miss those freshly baked breads and sushi from the deli.

Megan Jane yes they were! It’s unfortunate they couldn’t hold on until the population grew a bit more.
